My journey that would lead me to Diana Chaloux actually began in December 2007.  I had just graduated nursing school and was looking toward getting my 2nd degree Black Belt.  I felt unstoppable, like every goal I set for myself could be achieved.  I am a very goal driven person, who likes to make lists and cross things off, but there was one goal on my list I just couldn’t get crossed off…..my weight.  When I stepped on the scale after nursing school, I weighed 205 lb, I felt defeated.  I was the heaviest I had ever been in my life.  I was the weight I said I would NEVER be.  I thought I felt great because I had so many supportive people in my life that were patting me on the back and making me feel like super woman, but deep down, I was tired, anxious and sick of having heart burn.  So, I set a new goal of losing 50 lbs and threw myself into training for my next black belt.  I lost 20lb, got my 2nd degree black belt and quickly gained back 10lb.  For the rest of 2008 and the first 4 months of 2009, my weight sat at 195lb. I was so frustrated.  I was not used to setting goals for myself and not reaching them.   I sat down one day to make a new list of goals.  What did I really want for myself?  And then it hit me.  The reason I reach my goals is because there is always a reward waiting for me when I get there: the graduation ceremony after nursing school, the black belt test after training for years.  Sure, being healthier and fitting into cuter clothes is a great reward, but at the time I couldn’t remember what that felt like.  I needed something bigger.  A figure competition!  I had thought of competing in Figure before and had read all the transformation stories on bodybuilding.com, but I didn’t know where to start.  I just had to quit talking about it and go for it!  I finally committed to two (2) new goals.  1. Compete in a Figure Competition in April 2010 and 2. Be in the best shape of my life for my 3rd degree black belt test in June 2010.  With my goals now crystal clear, I got busy.  I knew I needed help from a pro so I did a search for personal trainers in Kansas City, Missouri and the first name on the list was Diana Chaloux.   I contacted her through email and we had our face to face within that week.   I was nervous.  I was the most nervous about this goal than any other because it was so personal.  What if I didn’t do it?  What if I couldn’t get there?  How embarrassed would I be if I FAILED?  The first day I met Diana, was the first day of my transformation both inside and out.  I let her know what my goals were and she let me know what it was going to take for me to achieve them.  I left that first meeting feeling so energized.  Diana is a ball of uplifting energy.  Her happiness is contagious.   May 4, 2009 was my first official workout with Diana.  It was brutal, but in an exhilarating way!  Even though I was overweight, I still thought I was in pretty good shape because of karate and yoga, but boy was I in for a rude awakening.  She kicked my butt all over that gym for an entire hour and yet when it was over I was thanking her.  She also gave my diet a total over haul.  To this day my diet is still what I struggle with most, but knowing that I have Diana to answer to on Monday mornings, makes my choices on the weekend a little bit easier!  My life has changed since that first day.  Diana continues to push me to my limits and somehow she knows those better than I do!  She encourages me to work harder and to make the right choices.  She lives her life as an example to all her clients.  She walks the walk.  When I whine and complain, she listens and then says 5 MORE!  Diana moved to Kansas City only 6 months before I found her on bodybuilding.com.  I feel like she is in my life on purpose and that this is my year to change my life!   I am still working toward my goals and feel so proud and honored knowing that Diana is committed to seeing it through to the end with me.

I was unhappy with the way I looked and felt.  I was at my heaviest non-pregnancy weight and I decided I wanted to do something about it.  I had a gym membership but with my hectic work and family schedule, I rarely made it to the gym.  I wanted a quick fix and I was seriously considering plastic surgery.  I held off because of the cost and because it meant some pain and the possibility of complications; and not to mention the time off from work.  I sat down and thought of more feasible options and tried to come up with a plan.  I decided I needed somebody, a trainer, to help me with my workouts, nutrition, motivation and inspiration.

One day I logged into my MySpace account and noticed I had a friend request.  I normally just delete the “spam” requests but for some reason I looked at it and I could not believe what I saw.  The person was not only a personal trainer, she was a fitness model and she looked amazing.  I thought to myself that this was a sign.  I checked out her websites and I decided this was just what I needed.  About two weeks later I finally got up enough courage to call her.  I decided this was going to be a birthday present for myself.  She seemed very nice and she seemed genuinely interested in helping me so I signed up to work with her.

That person was Diana.  My first meeting with her went well.  She talked to me about my eating habits and advised me what I should and should not be eating.   I did not realize how poorly I was eating. Boy was that a wakeup call!!  Then the workouts started.  She had me working really hard.  I never imagined I could work as hard as I was during a workout, but I made it through.  I would go home feeling exhausted but accomplished.  Pretty soon I started seeing results.

Diana is great to work with.  She gave me the information and inspiration I needed to help me accomplish my weight loss goals.  She took me to a whole new level of fitness and she has inspired me to go even higher.  Now, I even have my family going to the gym with me and eating healthier.  I am glad I decided to “take a chance” on her and I am glad she is now my friend.

My journey with Diana began right after I got home from a trip to Cancun with my husband.  I have mostly been a marathon runner and distance running has always been what I love to do to stay fit.  A series of injuries sidelined me from training for and competing in marathons.  In fact, I announced to everyone that I had retired from the marathon after my last one was so painful.  The problem is that when I trained for the distance, I could pretty much eat whatever I wanted and remain thin (not muscular though), so when I turned 40 AND could no longer train, I noticed the dreaded muffin top begin to happen to my figure.  I would cut back on my calories drastically and also run as much as my knee would let me, but nothing would happen.  In fact, I felt like I was getting fatter.  I couldn’t stand it.  I have never been the muscular girl, but I was never the super-soft one either.  I had become that girl.  I began working with a trainer at my local gym but still saw no significant changes in my body.  I was skinny fat and hated it.  One day I was working out with my trainer and I told him I didn’t like the back of my arms or my waist.  He said, “Stephanie, it’s your diet!”.  I worked out constantly, but no changes ever happened.  He was SO right.  I thought I ate clean, but when it came right down to it, I didn’t.  I searched out someone that could help me with my diet and my training and found Diana Chaloux.  When I first met with Diana my intention was to have her help me with my diet and maybe work out with her once/week.  Within the first 5 minutes of our first meeting, she was talking with me about training for a figure competition within 12 weeks.  Yikes.  I was 41 and soft in the middle and honestly had no thought about ever doing one although I always admired the ladies that do and read Oxygen religiously.  I never ever thought I could look like one of those ladies but secretly wanted to!  Diana is so knowledgeable about the figure industry and I began to get excited!  She believed I could do it and that was all I needed to hear.  I thought, “What the heck, I’ll try something once and I have trained for marathons for years at 12 week timeframes and so I knew I had the ability to hit difficult goals.  I also thought that if I could get into amazing shape at my age it would be worth it!”  So, I went home and talked with my husband and he supported me.  I began training with Diana 3 days/week in person and WOW!  I have trained with trainers before, but nothing prepares you for how hard Diana trains you.  It is a good hard!!  Some days I wanted to cry J  She pushed me and she tweaked my diet each week and each week I began to see changes.  Amazing changes!  The types of changes that I never thought I would ever see on my 41-year old body.  Diana was there with me day by day and week by week.  She became my friend in the process.  The knowledge that she has and the way she trains is just unbelievable.  She helps with everything from what to eat and how much and when and how to train different body parts and the angles to train and intervals and cardio, the list goes on.  Even though I now know how to eat and how to train, I will utilize Diana again when I train for my next competition in April 2010.  She is someone that I now depend on to be my very best.  You don’t have to be preparing for a figure competition to work out with Diana.  In fact, I don’t know why you wouldn’t reach out to her for just the basics of just wanting to get rid of that dreaded muffin top J
